Just wanted to let you know that my viva or oral defense of my thesis has been set for July 6. Since this is also our fifth wedding anniversary, it means there's something to celebrate regardless of the outcome of the viva! That leaves me only a few days to prepare, but it's probably good to get all the anxiety packed into a relatively short period of time.

Ellie has gotten much more chatty recently. This takes many forms. The utilitarian call for help: "Mommiiiiieeeee!" General commentary: "Light off! Nice sandals! Lunch's ready!" Requests: "Ellie do that! Jump big ball feets! Read this one book!" Voicing assent and dissent: "Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!! Nooooooo....nope!"
But there's nothing quite like singing. Our house is filled with music these days. It rarely happens on demand, rather choosing to spill out here and there in the midst of other things. But Ellie did give a performance for the camera of the hand motions for "Two Little Dickey Birds" while Crystal provided the lovely accompaniment.
